Product Review: Mandolin

This week, I decided to make confit byaldi and realized that it would be much easier to use a mandolin slicer to cut my vegetables more quickly and ensure they were all the same size. This was actually my first time using this kitchen tool, but it certainly won’t be my last. The mandolin made slicing both consistent and precise, which greatly improved the overall preparation process.

Set up and Cleaning Process

The setup process is straightforward and simple, as it only involves two stands along with an attachment designed specifically for larger vegetables, such as potatoes or yams. On the side, it features an adjustable knob that allows for precise slicing, with increments as fine as one fourth of an inch for consistent results. And the process of cleaning it remains just as simple, thanks to the attachments being easily removable, all you have to do is slide off the cap and you’re done.

The mandolin itself is designed with smooth surfaces, making it easy to clean thoroughly with just a sponge, without any nooks or crannies where food particles could get stuck.

A quick little demonstration of how fast and easy it is to use

Overall, the mandolin was very easy to use and clean, making food preparation quick and efficient. The design allows for simple assembly and disassembly, which allows for thorough cleaning without any hassle. The only risk to be mindful of is the sharpness of the blades; caution is needed to avoid accidental cuts while slicing. Proper handling and the use of safety attachments and cut prof gloves can help minimize this risk.
